Liga Nacional Round 3: Pampichi is defeated by GMS

After 3 rounds played we can already see who rules in the Liga Metropolitana and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Pampichi (2-1) in Amatitlan on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by GMS (1-2) 73-61. It was a great evening for point guard Anthony Guerra (178-97) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Fabian Urrutia (-3) helped adding 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. GMS's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Enrique Samayoa (193-82) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. GMS is looking forward to face ELOHIM in Chimaltenango in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pampichi will play against Olmeca and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Club Force (3-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat Coloso (1-2) in Guatemala City 72-55. It was a quality performance for forward Hector Chur (179) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Carlos Sandoval accounted for 18 points. Guard Mynor Aquino (175-89) came up with 8 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for Coloso in the defeat. Coloso's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Club Force will play against Villa Nueva (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Coloso will play against USAC (#7) to get more than just one victory in their record.
ELOHIM (3-1) crushed at home Villa Nueva (0-3) by 60 points 112-52, which is the biggest margin this round on Tuesday night. The best player for the winners was Pablo Cano who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. ELOHIM's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Marcos Zetina who recorded 19 points. ELOHIM will meet GMS (#5) in the next round. Villa Nueva will play against Club Force and hopes to get finally their first victory.



Club Force - Coloso 72-55

Club Force (3-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat Coloso (1-2) in Guatemala City 72-55. Strangely Coloso outrebounded Club Force 52-34 including a 23-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for forward Hector Chur (179) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Carlos Sandoval (-0) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Guard Mynor Aquino (175-89) came up with 8 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and Juan Ventura (-96) added 11 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Coloso in the defeat. Coloso's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Club Force will play against Villa Nueva (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Coloso will play against USAC (#7) to get more than just one victory in their record.

ELOHIM (3-1) crushed at home Villa Nueva (0-3) by 60 points 112-52, which is the biggest margin this round on Tuesday night. ELOHIM dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Villa Nueva's 14. They outrebounded Villa Nueva 59-27 including a 27-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. ELOHIM looked well-organized offensively handing out 40 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Villa Nueva's players. The best player for the winners was point guard Pablo Cano (178-88) who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international swingman Pablo Gonzalez (194-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Five ELOHIM players scored in double figures. ELOHIM's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Marcos Zetina (182-86) who recorded 19 points and Bryan Mencos (-99) added 19 points respectively. ELOHIM will meet GMS (#5) in the next round.
