Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana round 10 best performance: Ruben Jerez (by Hoops Agents)- April 19, 2021
The 26-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, three rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Halcones (6-2) 80-69. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Villa Nueva to take over top position in the Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Villa Nueva has a very solid 6-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Jerez had a remarkable seven three-pointers out of 13 attempts. He just recently signed at Villa Nueva, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Ruben Jerez has solid league stats. He is league's best passer with 5.0apg. Jerez is in league's top in and averages impressive 2.4spg and 59.1% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was 20-year old Helmut Esquivel (196-C) of Club Force. Esquivel had a very good evening with a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Club Force lost that game 63-70 to Olmeca (5-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Club Force still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 5-3 record is not bad at all. Esquivel is one of the most experienced players at Club Force and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.5ppg (#8). He also registered 10.2 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was another Villa Nueva's star - center Bernie Diaz (200-C-81). Diaz scored 21 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!).
