Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana round 10 best performance: Ruben Jerez (by Hoops Agents)

Guard Ruben Jerez (G-94) had a very impressive game in the last round for top-ranked Villa Nueva, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 26-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, three rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Halcones (6-2) 80-69. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Villa Nueva to take over top position in the Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Villa Nueva has a very solid 6-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Jerez had a remarkable seven three-pointers out of 13 attempts. He just recently signed at Villa Nueva, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Ruben Jerez has solid league stats. He is league's best passer with 5.0apg. The second best player in last round's games was 20-year old Helmut Esquivel (196-C) of Club Force. Esquivel had a very good evening with a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds. Third on the list of top players last round was another Villa Nueva's star - center Bernie Diaz (200-C-81). Diaz scored 21 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Villa Nueva, helping his team with a 80-69 win against #2 ranked Halcones. Villa Nueva confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 2 lost games. Diaz has a great season in Guatemala.
