Liga Metropolitana Round 14: Halcones are defeated by Forza

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most important game in the last round took place in between second ranked Halcones (9-3) and fifth ranked Forza (6-5) on Friday night. Halcones were defeated by Forza in a tough game at home 74-79. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Halcones. They outrebounded Halcones 46-35 including 20 on the offensive glass. Naturalized American guard David Goddard (185-89) had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Walter Gasparico (-89) chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Mario Reyes (-1) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Forza moved-up to third place, which they share with Club Force and Olmeca. Halcones at the other side keep the second position with three games lost.
Liga Metropolitana top team - Villa Nueva (10-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Coeindeguasa (3-9) 66-52. Enrique Samayoa (193-82) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Gilberto Escobar supported him with 27 points. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by Selvin Hidalgo (-3) did not help to save the game for Coeindeguasa. Coeindeguasa's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Villa Nueva have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-2 record. Coeindeguasa lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost.



Coeindeguasa - Villa Nueva 52-66
