David Monterroso
Point guard David Monterroso (180-PG-79) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Halcones, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 42-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Forza (#4, 3-5) 81-73. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Halcones to take over top position in the Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and Halcones keeps a perfect 7-0 record. Monterroso turned to be Halcones' top player in his first season with the team. David Monterroso has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 22.8ppg. Monterroso is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 8.8rpg) and averages impressive 55.6% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 32-year old Mynor Aquino (175-G-89) of Centenarios. Aquino had a very good evening with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led Centenarios to another comfortable win outscoring Coeindeguasa (#6, 0-7) 67-47. Centenarios' 5th position in the standings has not changed. 6 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Centenarios managed to get this year. Aquino is a newcomer at Centenarios, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was Luis Mendez of Forza (#4). Mendez got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. Despite Mendez's great performance Forza lost 73-81 to #1 ranked Halcones. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Forza not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Mendez could try to bring Forza's a little bit higher in the standings. Mendez has a very solid season. In 2 games in Guatemala he scored 23.5ppg.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
