Monterroso's 27 points give him Player of the Week award

David Monterroso

42-year old point guard David Monterroso (180-PG-1979) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Halcones and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
He had the game-high 27 points adding five rebounds and two assists for Halcones in his team's victory, helping them to beat Forza (#4, 5-3) 85-78. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Halcones was forced-out from the top positions in Guatemalan league. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and Halcones keeps a perfect 8-0 record. Monterroso turned to be Halcones' top player in his first season with the team. Monterroso has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 22.5ppg. Monterroso is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 9.8rpg) and averages solid 1.8bpg and 50.7% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Walter Ramirez (1997) of Amatitlan. He is a in his first season at Amatitlan. In the last game Ramirez recorded impressive 18 points and 6 rebounds. Of course Amatitlan cruised to a 70-59 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Villa Nueva Jrs (#1, 4-4). Amatitlan's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-5 record. Ramirez is a newcomer at Amatitlan and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third place about best performers goes to Cristian Diaz (2000) of Circulo (#7). Diaz got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds . Despite Diaz's great performance Circulo lost 59-62 to slightly higher-ranked Coeindeguasa (#6, 3-5). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Circulo can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-5 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Diaz has individually a great season in Guatemala. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.6ppg (4th best) and assists with 2.6apg (8th best).
