Luis Perez (1998) had a very impressive game in the last round for Amatitlan, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga Metropolitan Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 19 rebounds, while his team outclassed Dark Knights (#7, 1-4) with 71-point margin 97-26. Amatitlan maintains the 4th position in Guatemalan Liga Metropolitan. Amatitlan is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-2 record. In the team's last game Perez had a remarkable 61.1% from 2-point range. He turned to be Amatitlan's top player in his first season with the team. Luis Perez has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 14.0ppg).
The second best player in last round's games was young David Monterroso (180-PG-1979) of league's second-best Halcones. Monterroso had a very good evening with 29 points and 9 rebounds. Third on the list of top players last round was forward Victor Sosa (190-F-1988) of league's top team Azucareros. Sosa showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Azucareros, leading his team to a 57-54 win against #3 ranked Forza in a game of the week. Azucareros started extremely well this year. They recorded 4 victories without losing a single game. Sosa turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Sosa has a great season in Guatemala. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.5ppg (4th best), rebounds with 8.5rpg (6th best) and assists with 1.8apg (8th best).
