Guyanese National LaToya Chalmers signs with Harlem “Canadian” Ambassadors

To form the nucleus of the Harlem 'Canadian' Ambassadors, the team has signed Canadian/Guyanese player who is presently training and performing with one of the team's two touring units during the 2007-08 U.S. tour which tipped off on September 15, 2007 and includes over 200 performances. The Canadian tour will begin on April 3, 2008 in British Columbia and will tour west-to-east concluding in the Maritime Provinces.

LaToya Chalmers (185-F-84), from Toronto, Ontario and an NCAA Division 1 star at New York's Fordham University and current Guyanese National Forward, is currently training on the Ambassadors' 'Stars and Stripes' touring unit in preparation for the Canadian tour.

'We are thrilled with the quality of LaToya's game which will secure the nucleus of the Canadian Ambassadors team,' said President Dale Moss, adding that 'more importantly she is a quality pplayer who will represent our message that encourages youth to get a good education and avoid substances.'

Chalmers recently represented Guyana at the 19th CBC championships in Puerto Rico last August where she averaged 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 steals, 3.4 assists 2 blocks and 34 minutes in 5 games
