The shooting woes of Guyana continued in their second game of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) female under-16 championship as they fell to Barbados 40-29 on Wednesday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, Guyana. A late surge by the Guyanese females amounted to nothing as the Bajan females had a big enough lead to withstand the late run by Guyana. The Guyanese girls took more shots this time around (67) and shot another low percentage from the field, similar to their last game; this time connecting on 14.9% of their shots. Interestingly, Guyana forced Barbados into a game leading 46 turnovers but simply could not capitalize on the offensive end of the floor. The only bright spot for Guyana as it was in the last game was Jada Mohan who recorded 18 of Guyana's 29 points for a game high performance. Nevertheless, the more physical Bajan side that got their scoring mostly at the rim was led by Tower Lorde who had a towering performance with 14 points and 14 rebounds. The win for Barbados now has them at a 2-0 record while Guyana will play their last game on Thursday (July 14) and loss against Antigua and Barbuda would certainly guarantee the female squad an early exit out of the championship.
