The three-game finals in the Under-23 and 1st Divisions of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association's (GABA) 2018 knockout competition bounced off on Monday Night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, in the presence of a reasonably sized crowd which included the head of the Guyana Basketball Federation (GABF), Nigel Hinds. Plaisance Guardians easily defeated Pacesetters 73-59 in the Under-23 division. Guardians' center (C) Akeem Crandon (198-F-00) continued his dominant form with another superb all-around performance. He netted a game-high 20 points and was a class above in defence with a few blocks; if those statistics were available, Crandon would've finished with at least a double-double (points & blocks). Crandon's teammate, Terrence Daniels, continued to impress with a valuable 14 points that helped his team to the important game one win. Pacesetters' Tofowa Daly (18 points) wowed the crowd and fired up his team which trailed throughout the loss but he didn't get the support which his efforts deserved.
In the 1st Division finals game one, which was the feature match of the night, Bounty Colts defeated Nets 68-59. Domar Gladstone topped scored for Colts with 14 points, while National Guard Stanton Rose assisted with 12 points along with the Captain Shelroy Thomas' contribution of 10 points.
The reigning National Club Champions, Colts, led the game from the first to the final quarter of play and despite Pelham Doris equaling Gladstone's game-high tally of 14 points, his team's all-around performance couldn't trump Colts with Hodaya Stewart (10 points) being the next best scorer.
