Clube Uniao Sportiva Ponta Delgada (Liga Feminina) agreed terms with 28-year old Guyanese international guard Miriam McKenzie (177-90, college: Loyola, MD, agency: AgainHello). She joins another USA player Alecia Cooley who is already in the roster.
Boa Viagem. In 14 Liga Feminina games in Portugal she was second best scorer with impressive 22.0ppg and averaged 10.3rpg (#3 in the league), 3.4apg and 2.3spg (in top 5). A very spectacular season in her career as she was named to Eurobasket.com All-Portuguese League 1st Team, All-Imports Team and League Player of the Week.
The previous (17-18) season McKenzie was tested by Adelantados (LF2) in Spanish league.
Her team made it to the Portuguese Federation Cup Final Four in 2016.
McKenzie is a dual citizen owning also American passport.
McKenzie represented Guyana at the FIBA Caribbean Championship last year.
She has played previously professionally in Finland (Peli Karhut) and Greece (AS Aris Thessalonikis).
McKenzie attended Loyola College until 2012 and it will be her eighth season as a professional player.
