Maurita Reid
Artego Bydgoszcz (BLK) inked 30-year old American (has also Jamaican passport) point guard Maurita Reid (172-85, college: Miami, FL). Reid managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year (!!!). She played most recently at Los Leones in Chilean Liga Femenina. In three Liga Sudamericana games she recorded 15.0ppg, 7.7rpg, 4.0apg and 5.0spg. She also played at Energa Torun that season. In 29 games she averaged impressive 16.4ppg, 4.1rpg, 4.1apg and 3.7spg. She helped them to make it to the cup final and to the league semifinals. A very good season in her career as she was voted to All-Polish BLK 1st Team, All-Imports Team and to the All-Star Game. Reid also played 14 games in Euroleague where she averaged 15.0ppg, 4.1rpg, 3.7apg and 4.0spg. It was a very successful season in her career as she was voted to All-Euroleague Honorable Mention.
The previous (13-14) season she played at PEAC-Pecs (A Division) in Hungarian league. The team played in three different competitions that year, and Reid was exposed to basketball on different levels. In 22 A Division games she averaged 12.5ppg, 4.5rpg, 3.0apg and 3.9spg in 2013-14 season. She contributed to her team winning the cup and make to league final. Indeed an impressive season as she was awarded All-Hungarian League Guard of the Year and voted to 1st Team and voted to All-Imports Team. Reid also played 8 games in Eurocup where she averaged 12.8ppg, 6.1rpg, 4.3apg and 4.3spg in 2013-14 season. She also played 22 games in Middle European League where she averaged 13.1ppg, 4.2rpg, 2.7apg and 3.5spg in 2013-14 season. She contributed to her team making it to the semifinals. Indeed an impressive season as she was awarded All-Middle European League Defensive Player of the Year and voted to All-Imports Team and voted to Honorable Mention.
In 12-13 season Reid played at Elitzur Netanya (D1) in Israeli league. In 18 games she averaged 14.9ppg, 6.4rpg, 5.2apg and 2.9spg in 2012-13 season. A very good year in her career as she was voted to All-Israeli League Honorable Mention. She also spent pre-season at Besiktas (TKBL) in Turkish league that year. Reid was also tried-out by Lupa Promotion (A1) in Croatian league.
She is a very experienced player. Reid has played also professionally in Sweden (Umea), WNBA (Washington Mystics and Seattle Storm), Israel (Ramat Hasharon), Croatia (Gospic), Poland (MUKS Poznan) and Armenia (Hatis Yerevan).
She attended University of Miami, Florida until 2008 and it will be her eighth season in pro basketball.
