Three schools will be going after the two remaining semi-final spots as the regular season of the ISSA Western Conference Girls' Open basketball ends today with three games. Undefeated teams, defending champions Spot Valley High and Mt Alvernia High - who have met in the last two finals and who will meet at Spot Valley at 3:30 pm - have already secured their places in the last four and are both on eight points. Rhodes Hall on six points and Holland High and Muschett High, each on five points, are chasing the two open spots while Montego Bay High, who have lost all four games played so far, are out of contention. Three teams, Holland High, Muschett High and Rhodes Hall, could end up on seven points and it would take a tiebreaker to decide who advances. Holland High are expected to beat Montego Bay High in the first game of the double-header at Spot Valley and go to seven points and if Muschett High pull off a win over Rhodes Hall, both will end up with seven points as well. On form, Holland High should win and get one foot in the semi-final, while Rhodes Hall will need to rebound from their big 20-point loss to Spot Valley on Friday if they are to get a semi-final spot.
Meanwhile, both Spot Valley High and Mt Alvernia will put their four-game unbeaten records on the line, but the home team will have the advantage following a series of impressive wins, scoring 161 points in their last three games.
