Marin tabs Vashil Fernandez - Aug 15, 2018

LEB Silver newcomer Marin PeixeGalego inked 26-year old Jamaican center Vashil Fernandez (208-118kg-92, college: Valparaiso). He played most recently at Levitec Huesca in Spanish LEB Gold. In 20 games he averaged 3.6ppg and 2.8rpg last season. LEB Silver will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. Fernandez also spent pre-season at Phoenix Galati (Liga Nationala) in Romanian league.
Among other achievements his team won Horizon League Regular Season in 2013, 2015 and 2016. Fernandez received also All-Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2015 and 2016 at his college time.
Fernandez represented Jamaica at the Centrobasket in San Juan (Puerto Rico) six years ago. His team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 2 games: 0pts, 1.0rpg.
Fernandez has played also professionally in NBA G League (Sioux Falls Skyforce and Greensboro Swarm).
He attended Valparaiso University until 2016 and it will be his third season in pro basketball.
