Fresh from their upset win over multiple-defending champions Herbert Morrison in the Under-16 section on Monday, William Knibb Memorial will welcome Cornwall College in a double-header today in the ISSA Western Conference Boys' basketball competition in Martha Brae, Trelawny. Herbert Morrison suffered a rare loss, beaten by 10 points (49-59) by William Knibb at Herbert Morrison on Monday. The Under-19 game was rained out and will be rescheduled. Cornwall College are also coming off their first loss of the season and will be hoping to avoid back-to-back losses after going down to Herbert Morrison in both sections last week. Also today, Muschett High will host Rhodes Hall in a double-header at Muschett.
On Monday, Holland High scored a double win over Rhodes Hall, while William Knibb stayed in the race for a semi-final spot with their big come-from-behind victory over Herbert Morrison. Clifford Samuels scored a double-double to lead William Knibb with 14 points and 18 rebounds as they came from two points down at the end of the first quarter 7-9, but took over the lead in the second half ahead 24-19 at half time. The home team rallied in the third quarter to cut the deficit to two points (34-36), but it was the visitors who finished stronger, extending their lead in the fourth quarter.
Rhandan Ashman led William Knibb's scoring with a game-high 25 points and got eight rebounds, while Phillip Hodges scored nine points as Kyle Fraser led Herbert Morrison with 14 points. Holland High scored a comfortable 18 points (65-47) win over Rhodes Hall, thanks to a triple-double from Shavon Wallace, who scored 20 points, had 15 rebounds and 10 steals, while Johnathon Pottinger had a double-double of 23 points and 19 rebounds. Rhajaun Williams also scored 11 points and had eight rebounds for Holland High as Javani Davis scored 20 points and Daniel Cameron scored 13 points.
