Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Jamaicans who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is former international forward
Shereesha Richards (185-93, college:
Albany, currently plays in Spain). She managed to help Associacio Esportiva Sedis Basquet in a victory against the ninth-ranked Mann Filter (2-5) crushing them
90-56 in the Spanish LFB in Sunday night's game.
Richards recorded 5 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 21 minutes on the court.
Associacio Esportiva Sedis Basquet (4-3) is placed fifth in the LFB.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
This year Richards averages: 4.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 2FGP: 44.4% in six games she played so far.
She played for the Jamaican senior national team four years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international power forward
Vanessa Gidden (192-85, agency:
ProDep Management, college:
Hofstra, currently plays in Spain). Gidden could not help
Campus Promete (7-1) to beat Leganes (6-2).
She scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
But the first-placed Campus Promete (7-1) was edged
58-55 at home by the lower-ranked Leganes (#3) in the Group B.
They ended the series of seven consecutive victories.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
Gidden has individually a very good year with high stats. She averages: 15.8ppg, 9.5rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 44.8%, 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 63.3%.
Gidden played for the Jamaican national team in 2013.
#3. The Jamaican player who performed third best last week abroad was an international swingman
Antoinette Bannister (178-93, college:
E.Carolina, currently plays in Portugal). She contributed to
Carnide's victory against one of league's weakest teams Vitoria SC (2-6)
75-68 in the Portuguese Liga Feminina on Sunday night.
Bannister scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 19 minutes.
Carnide Clube/Holos (5-3) is placed fifth in the Liga Feminina.
It's Bannister's first season with the team.
This year her overall stats are: 9.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 51.6%, 3FGP: 30.3% and FT: 82.4% in eight games.
