Here is the weekly review of the top performing Jamaican players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international point guard Dylan Ennis (187-91, agency: BeoBasket, college: Oregon, currently plays in Spain). He could not help Andorra (5-7) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Ennis' very good performance Andorra was defeated 87-76 at home by the league outsider Gipuzkoa (#18). He was the top scorer with 16 points. Ennis also added 4 rebounds and dished 7 assists. It's Ennis' first season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Ennis averages: 16.6ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.6apg, 2FGP: 54.0%, 3FGP: 36.0% and FT: 83.6%. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Jamaican. Ennis played for the Jamaican senior national team four years ago.

Samardo Samuels

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Samardo Samuels (206-89, college: Louisville, currently plays in France). Samuels was the major contributor in a Limoges CSP Elite's victory against the 16th-ranked Provence Basket (4-9) 92-87 in the French ProA on Saturday night. He recorded 14 points. Limoges CSP Elite (7-6) is placed eighth in the ProA. Samuels has relatively good stats this season: 12.2ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 56.3%(45-80), 3FGP: 44.4% and FT: 68.1%. He played for the Jamaican national team in 2014.

   #3. The Jamaican player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Jerome Jordan (215-86, college: Tulsa, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to a Leche Rio Breogan's surprising victory against the second-ranked Real Madrid (9-3) 84-71 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. Jordan scored 8 points, had 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 23 minutes. Cafes Candelas Breogan Lugo (3-8) is placed 16th in the Liga Endesa. But the season just started, so everything may happen. This year Jordan has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg, 5.0rpg, 2FGP: 58.0%(47-81) and FT: 74.3% in 11 games he played so far. He played for the Jamaican national team four years ago.

   #4. Small forward Ricardo Alliman (201-87, college: Cedarville, currently plays in France) was not able to help Orchesien BC (10-5) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his very good performance the third-placed Orchesien BC (10-5) was badly defeated 94-77 on the road by the lower-ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (#6) in the Group A. Alliman was the second best scorer with 15 points. This season Alliman has very high stats. He averages: 15.3ppg, 7.1rpg and 1.1apg. Worth to mention Alliman played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Alliman used to play for the Jamaican national team back in 2014.

   #5. Former international swingman Durand Scott (196-90, college: Miami, FL, currently plays in France) managed to help Levallois Metropolitans to win against the 15th-ranked Le Portel (3-10) 84-74 in the French ProA in Friday night's game. He recorded only 2 points. Levallois Metropolitans (8-5) is placed eighth in the ProA. This season Scott averages just 1.0ppg. He is a naturalized American. Scott used to play for the Jamaican national team five years ago.

   #6. Center Vashil Fernandez (208-92, college: Valparaiso, currently plays in Spain) led Marin to a victory against the eighth-ranked Plasencia (6-8) 69-65 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) on Wednesday night. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds. Fernandez also added 8 blocks in 35 minutes. Marin PeixeGalego (9-5) is placed second in West group. This year Fernandez's overall stats are: 7.9ppg, 5.5rpg and 2.2bpg in 11 games. He is a naturalized American. Fernandez is a former international player as he played for the Jamaican senior team four years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Jamaican passport but never been selected to any of Jamaican national teams:

   #1. Sek Henry (193-G-87, college: Nebraska, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) could not help Pinar Karsiyaka (1-1) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the third-placed Pinar Karsiyaka (1-1) lost 87-96 at home to the leading s Oliver Baskets in the group I of FIBA Europe Cup. Henry was the top scorer with 26 points. He also added 5 passes in 44 minutes. There are only four games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. It's Henry's first season with the team. Henry has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.3ppg, 3.0rpg and 5.3apg in eight games he played so far. Henry is a naturalized American.

   #2. Daniel Mullings (189-G-91, college: N.Mexico St., currently plays in Finland) was the major contributor in a Joensuun Kataja's victory against the league leader Vilpas (14-3) 97-87 in the Finnish Korisliiga on Saturday night. He had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 11 rebounds. Mullings also added 3 assists in 26 minutes. Joensuun Kataja Basket (6-4) is placed sixth in the Korisliiga. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Mullings has very impressive stats this year: 15.9ppg, 7.8rpg, 3.0apg and 2.1spg in eight games. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Jamaican.

   #3. Ryan Martin (206-F-91, college: Tenn Tech, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) led his Danish team Bakken to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Joensuun Kataja (1-1) 104-89 in the FIBA Europe Cup in Wednesday night's game. Martin scored 15 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Bakken Bears (1-1) is placed second in group L. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. Martin has relatively good stats this season: 11.0ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.4apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Jamaican and British. Despite Martin's Jamaican nationality, he previously played for the British U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Jamaican team.

   #4. Brynton Lemar (193-G-95, college: Cal-Davis, currently plays in Hungary) led Sopron KC to a victory over the league outsider TF Budapest (0-10) 92-87 in the Hungarian A Division last Saturday. Lemar was MVP of the game. He recorded 26 points (!!!) and had 3 steals in 36 minutes; not bad, considering it's only Lemar's second season in pro basketball. Sopron KC (5-5) is placed seventh in the A Division. Lemar has very impressive stats this year: 19.1ppg, 2.7rpg and 3.2apg in 10 games. He is a naturalized American.

   #5. Quintrell Thomas (203-PF-90, college: UNLV, currently plays in Israel) was not able to help Hasharon (2-8) in their last game. Despite Thomas' very good performance the bottom-ranked Hasharon was edged 74-72 on the road by the higher-ranked (#10) Elitzur Yavne. He had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 12 rebounds in 32 minutes. Thomas has very impressive stats this year: 22.8ppg, 11.6rpg and 1.6bpg in 10 games. He is a naturalized American.

   #6. Ryan Rhoomes (203-C-92, agency: Duran International, college: Fordham, currently plays in France) contributed to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Saint Vallier crushing them 81-61 in the French NM1 (third division) last Friday. Rhoomes recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 11 rebounds. This season Rhoomes has very high stats. He averages: 17.3ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.3apg. Rhoomes is a naturalized American.

   #7. Shaquille Keith (196-F-93, currently plays in Taiwan) was not able to secure a victory for Fubon Braves (3-7) in their last game on Friday. Despite Keith's very good performance Fubon Braves were defeated 86-81 on their home court in by the higher-ranked Pauian (#4). He recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 16 rebounds. Keith also added 9 assists. This season Keith has very high stats. He averages: 17.9ppg, 7.7rpg and 3.9apg. Keith has both Jamaican and Canadian nationalities.

   #8. Experienced Jermaine Bucknor (201-F-83, college: Richmond, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Gladiators (3-0) in their last game. Despite his good performance Gladiators was edged 82-81 on the opponent's court by the much lower-ranked (#12) Schalke. Bucknor scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 28 minutes. Bucknor has reliable stats this year: 14.1ppg, 5.1rpg and 2.9apg in 14 games. He also holds two passports: Jamaican and Canadian.

   #9. Clint Robinson (203-F/C, college: Ill.-Chicago, currently plays in Portugal) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Esgueira / Oli in their game against Oliveirense in the Portuguese LPB. Despite his very good performance on Saturday night Robinson recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks. Robinson's overall stats this season are: 9.2ppg, 9.4rpg and 2.2bpg.

   #10. Sherman Gay (201-F/C-82, college: Loyola Mary, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Crailsheim Merlins in their game against EnBW Ludwigsburg in the German BBL. He scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 17 minutes. His team lost 70-82. This year Gay's overall stats are: 8.0ppg and 3.5rpg in six games. He is a naturalized American.

KEVIN FOSTER Taranaki Mountainairs (NBL) agreed terms with 30-year old Jamaican power forward Kevin Foster (203-104kg-89, college: Fresno State, agency: Haylett Sports). He just played at Real Esteli in Nicaraguan LSB league. In three games he had 13.7ppg and 5.0rpg this season. In 2013 Foster was drafted by Reno Bighorns (D-League) in second round (19th overall). St George's, Campion capture national basketball titles - 23 days ago
St George's College and Campion College crowned themselves champions of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) National Basketball Championships High Schoolboys Under-19 and Under-16 competitions, respectively, at GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport in Spanish Town on Monday. St George's, who lost out to Camperdown in the Southern Conference Under-19 final, defeated Christiana High 58-44 to win the national title for a second time. Their first was in 2009.
