Caribbean Storm Islands (Liga Wplay) agreed terms with 31-year old Canadian-Jamaican guard Jabs Newby (188cm-86kg-1991, college: Gannon) for new 2023 season. Newby is the second import player in the roster as USA Malik Pope signed here earlier.
He just played at Brisasol - CB Salou A in Spanish LEB Silver. In 13 EBA games he had 7.5ppg, 2.5rpg and 2.6apg last season. The last summer he played at Vancouver Bandits (CEBL) in Canadian league. But in 6 games he recorded only 1.0ppg and 1.7rpg.
He is quite experienced player. He has played in four different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). Newby has played previously professionally in Mexico (Pioneros Los Mochis), Spain (Algeciras, Clavijo, Araberri, La Roda and Gijon), Canada (Riptide, Power and Windsor Express) and NBA G League (Raptors 905 Missisauga).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted to USBasket.com NBL Canada All-Rookie Team back in 2015.
He graduated from Gannon University in 2014 and it is his ninth season as a professional player. Newby played also for Eastern Kentucky University for 2 years.
