Piratas de la Guaira (SPB) inked experienced 35-year old American-American ex-international 185cm guard Ra'shad James (college: Iona) for upcoming season. James played recently at Zob Ahan in Iranian Superleague. The last season he played at Al-Muharraq in Bahrain league where in three West Asia Super League games he recorded very impressive stats: 17.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.7apg and 1.3spg. He was a member of USA Senior National Team between 2017 and 2021.
James is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to fourteen different countries on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). James has played previously professionally in Canada (Shooting Stars), Croatia (Cedevita), France (Boulazac Basket), Germany (ratiopharm Ulm and Telekom Baskets), Italy (Ravenna), Korea (Wonju DB), Morocco (AS Sale), Poland (AZS), Turkey (Ormanspor and Yesilgiresun), United Arab Emirates (Al Wahda), Dominican Republic (Caneros), NBA G League (Stockton Kings, Westchester Knicks and Birmingham Squadron), Venezuela (Broncos) and The Basketball Tournament (Money Team).
Among many awards he played in the final of CEBL in 2022. He was voted to Afrobasket.com All-Basketball Africa League Honorable Mention back in 2021.
James graduated from Iona College in 2012 and it is his 13th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season in pro basketball. He played also for St. Thomas Aquinas College for 2 years.
