The Spanish Town Spartans pulled off an upset in their second-round opener, defeating the St. Georges Slayers 59-56 in a closely contested NBL matchup. Despite the Slayers entering as Mid-Season Champions, they struggled to maintain momentum, trailing 29-27 at halftime after a challenging second quarter. The Spartans extended their lead with a strong third quarter, adding 15 points to secure a five-point advantage heading into the fourth.
Damion Johnson led the Spartans with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Meanwhile, the Slayers saw standout performances from Deron Jackson, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds, and Richmoor Morris, who contributed 16 points, 3 steals, and 3 boards. Romario Millis also impressed with a double-double, tallying 14 points and 14 rebounds. Despite the Slayers' individual efforts, the Spartans' cohesive play sealed a hard-fought victory.
