MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg (BBL) signed 25-year-old Canadian-Jamaican guard Stefan Smith for the upcoming season. He played most recently at Cholet Basket in French Betclic ELITE ProA. In 31 Betclic ELITE ProA games, he averaged 11.0ppg, 2.4rpg, and 2.3apg. Smith also played 16 games in FIBA Europe Cup and helped his team reach the semifinals. Additionally, he recorded 1 game in Basketball Champions League. During the previous season, he played for Entente Orleans 45 (ProB) in France. Smith is the second import player on the team, joining USA's Keeshawn Kellman.
He represented Canada at the World Championship U17 in Zaragoza (Spain) nine years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 5.3 ppg and had 3.3 rpg.
Smith has also played professionally in Canada and Serbia (Kolubara).
Among many awards, his team won the CEBL Western Conference Regular Season in 2023. He received the USBasket.com All-CEBL Co-Clutch Player of the Year award and was voted to the Eurobasket.com French ProB All-Imports Team in 2024.
Smith graduated from St. John's University in 2022 and it'll be his fourth season in pro basketball. He played also for University of Vermont for 4 years.
