Jamaica successfully opened FIBA World Cup 2027 Americas Pre-Qualifiers. They secured a resounding 101-79 victory over Barbados in their first group phase match played in Mexico.
Romaine Thomas (206-F-1993, college: Clark Atlanta) led the team with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists. Romaro Gill (218-C-1994, college: Seton Hall) added 19 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and blocking 4 shots, whilst Kentan Facey (206-PF-1993, college: UConn) contributed 15 points and 3 rebounds. Kyrone Alexander (193-G-2003, college: Boston U.) replied with 28 points in the losing effort.
Jamaica will face Costa Rica on Saturday at 6PM Jamaica time.
