Audaz and Leonas clinch opening win in Medellin

The Regular Season in Liga Sudamericana just started. Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Ecuadorian Audaz defeated Venezuelan Pastoras de Lara in Machala 71-56. Pastoras de Lara was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Audaz made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Pastoras de Lara turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Pastoras de Lara helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Shacobia Barbee (179-94, college: Georgia) stepped up and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Marjorie Caicedo (180-90) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side forward Ivaney Marquez (181-83, college: Grayson County) responded with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pastoras de Lara will play next round against strong Leonas trying to get back on the winning streak. Audaz will try to continue on its current victory against Carl A-Z in Oruro.

Leonas will play against Pastoras de Lara in Barquisimeto in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Carl A-Z will play on the road against Audaz in Machala and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Leonas - Carl A-Z 67-66

Leonas will play against Pastoras de Lara in Barquisimeto in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Carl A-Z will play on the road against Audaz in Machala and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
