Wins for Berazategui and Quimsa in Group C

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Argentinian Berazategui as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Berazategui smashed much higher ranked Ecuadorian Victoria 81-62. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Berazategui. Victoria managed to win fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Berazategui forced 19 Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Celeste Cabanez (178-86) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 5 rebounds and Candela Gentinetta (181-1) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Belarusian forward Tatyana Troina (188-81, college: S.Carolina) responded with 18 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Quimsa. Victoria at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Leonas. Victoria will play next round against strong Quimsa trying to get back on the winning streak. Berazategui will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Leonas in Medellin.
