Best players of Liga SudAmericana round 7

Alexus Johnson

American Alexus Johnson (188-F-1994) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Carl A-Z and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 27-year old forward had a double-double of 27 points and thirteen rebounds, while her team beat Quimsa (#4, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 77-72. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Carl A-Z to consolidate first place in the Liga SudAmericana. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Carl A-Z won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Johnson had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. She just recently signed at Carl A-Z and just after two games she already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Texas Southern University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Johnson is in league's top in points (3rd best: 20.5ppg), assists (2nd best: 0.5apg) and averages solid 4.0spg and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young guard Carolina Fernandez (186-G-2003) of Malvin. Fernandez impressed basketball fans with 31 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Malvin lost that game 70-75 to league's leader Felix Perez (#2, 2-0). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Malvin still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. 2 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Fernandez is a newcomer at Malvin and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.0ppg (#8). She also recorded 5.0 assists per game.

The third best performed player last round was Celia Fiorotto (186-F/C-1992) of Quimsa (#4). Fiorotto scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Fiorotto's great performance Quimsa lost 72-77 to #1 ranked Carl A-Z. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Fiorotto has individually a great season in Liga SudAmericana. After only 2 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.0rpg (7th best).
