The most important game of round 3 took place in Santiado del Estero where Argentinian Quimsa edged Uruguayan Aguada (2-1) 58-57 on Saturday night. It was a great evening for center Julieta Mungo (181-1997) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Andrea Boquete (183-1990) helped adding 9 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American Stephanie Madden (186-1988, college: Langston) with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Valparaiso. Chilean Sportiva Ita. (1-2) saved a 3-point victory at home edging Bolivian Univ. San Simon (0-3) 77-74 in the game for the third place. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Paula Carrasco (161-1994) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 4 assists. Andrea Valdes accounted for 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Sportiva Ita.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Swingman Marcela Viscarra (169-1990) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds for Univ. San Simon in the defeat. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
