Brazil - Canada 87-69
Brazil once again demconstarted nice performance in San Juan. That was the last day of Marchand Continental Championship Cup and Brazil finished the event as No.1 with perfect 3-0 record. In the first two games Brazil was better than Argentina and Puerto Rico. Yesterday, Brazilians outplayed Canada 87-69 without any extra efforts. Leandrinho Barbosa (190-G-82) was a key player in the winning squad draining 27 points. Tiago Splitter (211-C/F-85, agency: Interperformances) also was good with 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Marcelinho Machado (199-F/G-75, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points, 8 boards and 5 assists. In Team Canada, Carl English (192-G-81, college: Hawaii) top-scored with 22 points.
All four teams used this tournament as part of preparations for FIBA Americas Championship. This high-important event will also be played in San Juan and it starts on August 26. The top four sides will qualify for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey. Meanwhile, participants will have few more days to reach the full shape. As a reminder, there will be 12 teams divided in two Groups. In Group A, Canada will meet, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Virgins Islands and Mexico. In Group B, Brazil will play against Argentina, Panama, Venezuela and Dominican Republic.

Argentina - Puerto Rico 55-67
Puerto Rico cruised past Argentina finishing the participation on Marchand Continental Championship with victory. As a reminder, in Day 1 Puerto Rico was better than Canada and in Day 2 Brazil was too strong for them. It means that Puerto Ricans ended this event with 2-1 record, what is enough for the second place. On the other side, Argentina was not on such good level facing with 3 consecutive defeats. National Team of Brazil is No.1 in San Juan with perfect 3-0 record. Canadians are on third place with 1-2. Larry Ayuso (190-G-77, agency: Global Sports Plaza, college: USC) led Puerto Rico yesterday with 14 points. Argentina got 13 pts from the big guy Luis Scola (206-F/C-80). Puerto Rico led by as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter.
