Soles is the new champion in LNBP - Dec. 18, 2006
Soles de Mexicali won its first championship in its second year in the
LNBP when they defeated Halcones de Xalapa last night at Mexicali in the
7th game of the series.Mexicali was the best team all along the season.
Even though Xalapa was not an easy rival for cachanilla team (chachanilla
is name for those native from Baja California state), former champion
broke historic Soles winning streak at home in the sixth game to force
series to seven games.
After being ahead in the game for the first 2 quarters for a minor
difference 52-48, in third and fourth quarter new LNBP champion put all
its efforts to increase the advantage in the score box, with 2 minutes
left in the fourth quarter Mexicali got an advantage that Xalapa could
not overcome. Soles won the game to become new LNBP Champion 90-75.

Northern Division Runs to LNBP All Star Game Victory
The LNBP's Northern
Division won easily over the Southern Division 122-104 in the LNBP All
Star game held in Merida last night. The Northern Division, led by
Greg Lewis (198-F-78, agency:
Golden Wave Sports, college:
Winthrop)-15 points,
Larry Taylor (186-G, college:
Missouri Western)-16 points and the game MVP,

Houston)-20 points, started sluggishly and forced an early timeout
by Northern coach Lasalle
Taylor to regroup. The North stormed back and went up by 15 at halftime.
They never looked back and the Southern Division didn't threaten the
North's comfortable double digit lead for the remainder of the second
half.
