LNBP Title Will Return to Xalapa
It took seven games
but the Halcones Xalapa made their own history putting a stop to
Mexicali's in the process. The convincing 107-92 game seven win gave
Xalapa their second LNBP title and put the breaks on the Soles hopes to
repeat as LNBP Champions. Both teams battled all year long for league
supremacy and though Xalapa was on top of the leader board all season,
the Soles had mucho momentum coming into the post season and looked
poised to repeat. To seal the deal Xalapa won the final two games of the
series at home to bring the title back to 'Halconelandia.'
Jermaine Watson (193-G-81, college:
Boston Coll.) played like a man possessed finishing with 31 while
Mike Johnson (193-G-79) (201-F-78) and
Victor Mariscal (198-F-72) backed him up with 19 and 16
respectively. LNBP league leader in double double's and likely series
MVP if the Soles won,
Greg Lewis (198-F-78, college:
Winthrop) had 39. Point guard
De Juan Wheat (183-G-73, college:
Louisville) had 19 and
Victor Esquer (188-G-81, college:
Cal Lutheran) 15 in the loss. Comment on the LNBP and Xalapa's win
