Fuerza Regia Monterrey (LNBP) strengthened their roster with addition of 31-year old Puerto Rican international swingman David Huertas (195-89kg-87, college: Mississippi). He played in the summer at Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rican BSN league. Huertas helped them to win the league title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. Great season indeed as he was voted to Puerto Rican BSN All-Star Game. The last season he played at Comunicaciones (LigaA) in league where in 14 games he recorded very impressive stats: 15.3ppg, 2.6rpg and 2.6apg. He was also selected League Player of the Week. Huertas received Latinbasket.com All-Central American and Caribbean Games 1st Team award in 2018.
He represented Puerto Rico at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla (Colombia) this year. Huertas' team won Gold and his stats at that event were 4 games: 10.3ppg, 2.0rpg, 1.5apg, 1.3spg, FGP: 45.8%, 3PT: 20.0%.
Huertas is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America) in seven different countries. Huertas has played previously professionally in Dominican Rep., France, Greece (Marousi), Israel (Hapoel Haifa), Argentina (Obras Basket), Mexico (Halcones Rojos and Panteras) and Dominican Republic (Metros de Santiago).
He attended University of Mississippi until 2009 and it will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
The scouts decsribe him following way: A very quick offensive player, has a good shooting range, even from behind the 3pts arch. Creates well his shot out from the dribble, has a very good 1-vs-1 game and is a good pick & roll player. Can defend well, but needs to concentrate on this part of the game some more.

Fuerza Regia Monterrey roster for 2018-2019:

Guards:
Carlos Rivera
Cristian Cortes

Forward:
David Huertas

Center:
Mamadou Ndiaye
