Similarly like in all previous seasons, also this year LNBP awards were dominated by U.S. players. In Game 5, which was played last night, Halcones Xalapa managed to beat Halcones Rojos 89-79 wining the Final series 4-1. Leandro Garcia Morales (186-G-80, agency: Interperformances, college: Texas A&M) once again was the leading player in victory. He scored 26 points last night and pulled down 7 rebounds beside that. Gerald Brown (193-G-75, college: Pepperdine) and Victor Mariscal (198-F-72) (6 rebs) followed him with 16 and 15 points respectively. On the other side, Ricky Sanchezz (212-C/F-87) collected 20 points and 6 assists. Lawrence Hill contributed with 17 points and 8 boards. Last quarter was the crucial one yesterday. Halcones Rojos had better beginning as they took 25-27 lead after ten minutes of play. The hosts replied in the next ten minutes for 46-40 HT score. After the breather, Halcones Rojos came to minus 2 and everything was open again. However, Leandro Garcia Morales and his teammates exploded in the last period draining 27 points. They stopped Halcones Rojos on 19, what was enough for comfortable victory and third LNBP title in the row. As a reminder, Halcones Xalapa and Halcones Rojos finished regular season with the same 32-8 record. In the Quarterfinals, Halcones Xalapa was better than Abejas 3-0. After that, they escaped with 3-2 against Lobos Grises. |
