The biggest surprise of round 7 in LNBP was guest Astros' (#3) road victory over Abejas (#7) 95-83 on Thursday evening. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The former international guard Francisco Cruz (192-1989, college: Wyoming) fired 14 points and 9 assists for the winners. American guard Gage Davis-McMurrin (195-1995, college: St.Cloud St., agency: The Crew A.M.) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Davonte Gaines (201-2000, college: Providence) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Abejas' coach Jean Serrano rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Astros maintains third place with 4-2 record behind leader Dorados, which they share with Soles. Abejas at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another exciting game was played in Puebla between fourth ranked Soles and 6th ranked Lobos where Soles (4-2) beat Lobos (3-3) on the road 80-73. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Connor Zinaich (201-1997, college: Nova SE) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds. Jordan Sakho contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Elias King (203-2000, college: MTSU) answered with 23 points for Lobos. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Soles have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Astros. Newly promoted Lobos dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Leader Dorados delivered the fifth victory on Thursday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Fuerza Regia (3-3) 92-86 in Monterrey. It was a great evening for JR Clay who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 4 steals. At the losing side Avry Holmes responded with 19 points and 4 assists. Fuerza Regia's coach Jose Neto tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Dorados maintains first place with 5-1 record. Loser Fuerza Regia keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Dorados will meet at home Gambusinos (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fuerza Regia will play against Diablos (#10) and hope to secure a win.
