Dorados (7-1) recorded its first loss in Puebla on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by ninth ranked Lobos (3-5) 74-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Dorados. 27 personal fouls committed by Dorados helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Michael Myers (206-1992, college: UMES, agency: Diamond Sports) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) chipped in 18 points. Lobos' coach Paco Olmos used entire bench in such tough game. American point guard JR Clay (183-2000, college: Tennessee St.) produced 21 points for the guests. Lobos moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Dorados at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. Very important is a road loss of second ranked Astros (6-2) against sixth ranked Mineros (5-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Astros were defeated by Mineros in a tough game in Zacatecas 88-94. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Astros. American guard Daishon Smith (185-1995, college: ULM) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 4 assists. Tavario Miller contributed with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Mineros' coach Facundo Muller allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international point guard Moises Andriassi (177-2000) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for Astros. Mineros have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Fuerza Regia and Panteras. Astros at the other side keep the second position with two games lost. They share it with Soles. Mineros will again play against league's second-placed Astros in Guadalajara in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Astros will have a break next round.
The game in San Luis Potosi was also quite interesting. Third ranked Soles (6-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Santos (4-3). Soles managed to secure a 9-point victory 84-75 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Connor Zinaich who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Jared Wilson-Frame responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Soles have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Astros. Loser Santos dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Soles will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santos will play again against Soles (#3) and hope to secure a win.
Other games of round 11 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Freseros were defeated by Fuerza Regia in Monterrey 105-94. Bottom-ranked Correcaminos were beaten by El Calor at home 83-90. Panteras lost to Abejas on the opponent's court 83-92. Gambusinos managed to outperform Diablos in a home game 83-80.
