LNBP round 15 most important game was a victory of Panteras over 4th placed Mineros 95-93 on Monday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Panteras made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American Ahmed Hill (196-1995, college: Virginia Tech) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. Kittitian-American swingman Shaun Willett (193-1996, college: Queens, NC) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Daishon Smith (185-1995, college: ULM) answered with 22 points and 6 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) for Mineros. Very important is a road loss of second ranked Dorados (8-4) against tenth ranked Santos (4-7) on Monday night. Visiting Dorados were crushed by Santos in San Luis Potosi 87-63. It was a great evening for American forward Eric Griffin (203-1990, college: Campbell) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Javion Blake helped adding 20 points and 5 assists. Santos' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American-Filipino guard Mikh McKinney (184-1992, college: Sacramento St.) with 15 points and 5 assists. Santos maintains tenth place with 4-7 record. Dorados at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. They share it with Fuerza Regia and Panteras. An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Fuerza Regia in a game in Puebla versus Lobos (#7) 98-88. It was an exceptional evening for Shaquille Johnson who led the winners and scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Jimond Ivey came up with 23 points for Fuerza Regia in the defeat. Fuerza Regia's coach Jose Neto rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lobos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mineros. Loser Fuerza Regia dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Panteras and Dorados. Lobos will again meet at home higher ranked Fuerza Regia (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 15: Soles smashed Correcaminos on the road 100-74. El Calor was destroyed by Astros on its own court 50-89. Freseros managed to outperform Gambusinos in Irapuato 77-73. Abejas managed to beat Diablos at home 81-73.
