Rayos de Hermosillo (CIBACOPA) landed 26-year old American guard Durrell Summers (193-93kg-89, college: Michigan State). Summers ended this season at Knicks in D-League. In 19 CIBACOPA games he averaged 10.8ppg, 2.8rpg, 1.3apg and 1.2spg. But the most of that year he spent at Bighorns in D-League. In 23 CIBACOPA games he had 10.0ppg and 3.3rpg. The last (2014-15) season Summers played at Ironi Kiryat Ata (National League) in Israel. In 6 games he had very impressive stats: 18.2ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.0apg and 1.7spg last season. He also spent pre-season at Egis Kormend (A Division) in Hungarian league that year. In only one game he recorded 6 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal. The other team Summers played shortly was Atomeromu (A Division) in Hungarian league. In three games he had 3.3ppg and 2.7rpg.
In 2011 he was drafted by Maine Red Claws (D-League) in second round (8th overall).
Summers attended Michigan State and it will be his fourth season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements his team made it to the Big Ten Tournament Semifinals in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
Summers is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Australia (Wollongong Hawks), France (SO Maritime Boulogne), Venezuela (Trotamundos) and D-League (Idaho Stampede).
Summers' game is described as: Possesses great length and is a true athlete. Summers can get to the basket past anyone, and often goes to the line because of it. In addition to his ability to drive, Summers hits the outside shot with ease and extremely efficient when spotting up or coming off the pick-and-roll. His size and strength make him incredibly hard to defend for smaller defenders, often creating a mismatch opportunity. His quickness and athleticism allow him to move well off the ball, coming around screens and creating space. Defensively his where Summers shines. His lateral quickness, length, and ability to change directions fluidly, while having the fundamentals and effort level to go along with it make Summers a great defender.
