GERARD DEVAUGHN

30-year old power forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-F/C-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for Libertadores and receives a Interperformances LNBP Player of the Week award for round 17.
He had a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Correcaminos (#4, 8-8) 110-104. Libertadores maintains the 6th position in their group in Mexican LNBP. Libertadores is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-10 record. In the team's last game DeVaughn had a remarkable 83.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Libertadores and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Stillman College graduate has very impressive stats this year. DeVaughn is in league's top in points (9th best: 18.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 10.8rpg) and averages solid 60.8% FGP. Worth to mention DeVaughn played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

Second best performed player last round was Orlando Mendez-Valdez (175-PG-86, agency: Pro Sports) of Soles. He is naturalized American guard in his 2nd season at Soles. In the last game Mendez-Valdez recorded impressive double-double of 35 points and 11 assists. Bad luck as Soles was edged by the higher-ranked Mineros (#1, 13-3) 114-110. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in North. Soles still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 8-8 record is not bad at all. Mendez-Valdez is well-known at Soles and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Lyonell Gaines (198-F-93) of Santos (#6). Gaines scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Despite Gaines' great performance Santos lost 88-93 to the higher-ranked Panteras (#3, 9-7). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Santos not to end season at such low position in North, however are less than slim as they have already lost 10 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Gaines could try to bring Santos' a little bit higher in the standings. Gaines has individually a great season in Mexico. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.3ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 8.8rpg (7th best). Gaines attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Hameed Ali (188-G-93) of Panteras - 29 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-F-94) of Huracanes - 12 points and 17 rebounds
6. Ismael Romero (203-C-91) of Capitanes - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Curtis Withers (203-F-84) of Huracanes - 25 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Jeleel Akindele (216-C-83) of Fuerza Regia - 20 points and 14 rebounds
9. Juan Herrera (197-F-81) of Lenadores - 21 points and 9 rebounds
10. Ernesto Oglivie (203-F-89) of Capitanes - 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists

The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
