LYONELL GAINES

American Lyonell Gaines (198-F-93) put on an amazing game in the last round for Santos and that's him to receive a Interperformances LNBP Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 25-year old forward had a double-double of 32 points and eighteen rebounds, while his team beat Libertadores (#6, 8-13) 100-87. Santos maintains the 6th position in their group in Mexican LNBP. Santos is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 9-13 record. In the team's last game Gaines had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Santos' top player in his first season with the team. Morehead State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Gaines is in league's top in points (2nd best: 22.8ppg), rebounds (5th best: 9.2rpg) and averages solid 57.7% FGP. Worth to mention Gaines played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American forward Mychal Ammons (198-F-92) of Laguneros. Ammons impressed basketball fans with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Laguneros lost that game 89-103 to slightly higher-ranked Panteras (#4, 12-10). Laguneros managed to keep the same 5th spot in South. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 10-12 record. Ammons is a newcomer at Laguneros and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was another Santos' star - American Jaron Martin (178-PG-94, agency: Duran International). Martin scored 27 points and grabbed six rebounds. He was another key player of Santos, helping his team with a 100-87 easy win against slightly higher-ranked Libertadores (#6, 8-13). The chances of Santos ranking at the top of South, however are very questionable as they have already lost 13 games, recording just nine victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Martin could help Santos to bring them higher in the standings. Martin has a great season in Mexico. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 6.0apg (3rd best). He also has FGP: 64.2% and 3PT: 52.1%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Maurice Sutton (211-C-89) of Aaguacateros - 21 points and 11 rebounds
5. Jose David Estrada (194-G-94) of Correcaminos - 26 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-F-94) of Huracanes - 15 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Jarrid Famous (209-C/F-88) of Lenadores - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Jordan Glynn (200-F-89) of Fuerza Regia - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
9. P.J. Reyes (196-G/F-88) of Laguneros - 24 points and 3 rebounds
10. Akeem Scott (185-G-83) of Laguneros - 17 points, 3 rebounds and 12 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
