WENDELL MCKINES

30-year old forward Wendell McKines (198-F-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Mineros and receives a Interperformances LNBP Player of the Week award for round 23.
He had a double-double of 29 points and 14 rebounds, while his team edged out Angeles (#7, 6-16) 80-79. It allowed Mineros to consolidate first place in the Mexican LNBP. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Mineros has a very solid 17-5 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. McKines turned to be Mineros' top player in his first season with the team. Wendell McKines averages this season 12.0ppg and 7.1rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Lyonell Gaines (198-F-93) of Santos. He is American forward in his first season at Santos. In the last game Gaines recorded impressive double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Santos was edged by slightly higher-ranked Libertadores (#6, 8-13) 81-80. Santos managed to keep the same 6th spot in South. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-13 record. Gaines is a newcomer at Santos and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.0ppg (#2). He also registered 9.3 boards per game. Former Morehead State University star Gaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Akeem Scott (185-G-83) of Laguneros (#5). Scott showcased his all-around game by recording 16 points, nine rebounds and seventeen assists (!!!) in the last round. Despite Scott's great performance Laguneros lost 93-106 to slightly higher-ranked Panteras (#4, 12-10). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Laguneros ranking at the top of South, however are very questionable as they have already lost 12 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Scott could help Laguneros to bring them higher in the standings. Scott has a great season in Mexico. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.0apg (6th best). Scott attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Stedmon Lemon (198-F-92) of Panteras - 34 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Jarrid Famous (209-C/F-88) of Lenadores - 23 points and 12 rebounds
6. Josh Ramirez (198-G) of Laguneros - 29 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Gerard DeVaughn (206-F/C-88) of Libertadores - 20 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Hameed Ali (188-G-93) of Panteras - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists
9. Maurice Sutton (211-C-89) of Aaguacateros - 19 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Dominic McGuire (206-PF-85) of Aaguacateros - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
