ISMAEL ROMERO

27-year old center Ismael Romero (203-C-91) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Capitanes and receives a Interperformances LNBP Player of the Week award for round 26.
He had a double-double of 32 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out Santos (#6, 10-16) 110-108. It allowed Capitanes to consolidate first place in the Mexican LNBP. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Capitanes has a very solid 16-9 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Romero turned to be Capitanes' top player in his first season with the team. Romero has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 8.8rpg) and averages solid 69.4% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Hameed Ali (188-G-93) of Panteras. He is American guard in his first season at Panteras. In the last game Ali recorded impressive double-double of 48 points and 10 assists. Bad luck as Panteras was edged by slightly higher-ranked Correcaminos (#4, 13-12) 138-136. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in South. Panteras still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 12-13 record. Ali is a newcomer at Panteras and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-F/C-88) of Libertadores (#6). DeVaughn scored 29 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Libertadores, leading his team to a 96-65 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Huracanes (#7, 3-22). The chances of Libertadores not to end season at such low position in South, however are less than slim as they have already lost 15 games, recording just nine victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, DeVaughn could try to bring Libertadores' a little bit higher in the standings. DeVaughn has individually a great season in Mexico. After 24 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 10.2rpg (2nd best). DeVaughn attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Lyonell Gaines (198-F-93) of Santos - 31 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Aaron Perez (196-F-86) of Correcaminos - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists
6. Jose Guitian (207-F-87) of Correcaminos - 27 points, 17 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Jarrid Famous (209-C/F-88) of Lenadores - 28 points and 8 rebounds
8. Filiberto Rivera (189-PG-82) of Angeles - 13 points, 3 rebounds and 14 assists
9. Akeem Scott (185-G-83) of Laguneros - 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Mychal Ammons (198-F-92) of Laguneros - 14 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Interperformances. Interperformances is a full-service agency specializing in the representation of professional athletes the world-over.
