MARTIN SAMARCO

Naturalized American Guard Martin Samarco (190-G-85) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Huracanes, receiving a Interperformances LNBP Player of the Week award for round 33.
The 33-year old player had a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Santos (#6, 11-21) 108-101. Huracanes maintains the 7th position in their group in Mexican LNBP. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 24 games and recorded just six victories. Samarco turned to be Huracanes' top player in his first season with the team. Martin Samarco averages this season 17.4ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was another Huracanes' star - 24-year old American Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-F-94). Parker-Rivera had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds. Of course Huracanes cruised to a 108-101 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Santos (#6, 11-21). Huracanes' 7th position in North has not changed. 24 lost games are too many comparing to just six victories Huracanes managed to get this year. Parker-Rivera is a newcomer at Huracanes, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Lyonell Gaines (198-F-93, agency: Best of You Sports) of Santos (#6). Gaines scored 29 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Gaines' great performance Santos lost 101-108 to slightly lower-ranked Huracanes (#7, 6-24). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Santos not to end season at such low position in North, however are less than slim as they have already lost 21 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Gaines could try to bring Santos' a little bit higher in the standings. Gaines has individually a great season in Mexico. After 31 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.7ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 9.4rpg (4th best). Gaines attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Javier Mojica (190-SG-84) of Lenadores - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Yancy Gates (206-C/F-89) of Abejas - 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Hameed Ali (188-G-93) of Panteras - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Jarrid Famous (209-C/F-88) of Lenadores - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Jaron Martin (178-PG-94) of Santos - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 15 assists
9. B.J. West (211-F-89) of Santos - 23 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Lance Goulbourne (203-F-89) of Soles - 23 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
