Libertadores de Queretaro (LNBP) agreed terms with 28-year old Venezuelan ex-international forward Juan Coronado (203-111kg-90, college: Liberty), who'll join the team for Group D's action in Liga de las Americas 2019. The Mexican team is replacing Universitarios de Panama as participants in the international tournament.
He played last summer at Guaiqueries in Venezuelan LPB league. In 8 games he had 9.0ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1bpg. The last season Coronado played at Club Deportes Puente Alto (Liga Nacional) in Chilean league where in 32 games he recorded 14.5ppg, 10.7rpg (#4 in the league), 2.1apg and 1.3bpg.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team won Venezuelan LPB Eastern Conference Regular Season in 2017. Coronado was also voted Latinbasket.com All-Chilean Liga Nacional 2nd Team back in 2016.
He was a member of Venezuelan international program for some years. Coronado was called to Venezuelan Senior National Team between 2012 and 2016 and previously for U18 National Team in 2008.
He is quite experienced player. Coronado's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in five different countries. Coronado tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally also in Argentina (Huracan), Spain (Zornotza), Uruguay (Olimpia) and Chile (AB Ancud).
Coronado attended Liberty University until 2014 and it will be his fifth season as a professional player.
On Coronado: JR is a terrific rebounder who brings a lot of toughness. He is a guy who is very competitive and will work, dive on the floor, he will take charges and be around the ball all the time.
