The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Fuerza Regia (29-8) on the court of third ranked Lenadores on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Lenadores 82-79. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. It was a great evening for American-Puerto Rican Javier Mojica (190-84, college: Cent.Conn.St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) helped adding 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) with 20 points. Fuerza Regia's coach Francisco Olmos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lenadores (23-14) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Newly promoted Lenadores maintains third place having six points less than leader Capitanes. Fuerza Regia at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. Lenadores are again looking forward to face league's leader Fuerza Regia in Monterrey in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Michoacan. 3rd placed host Aaguacateros (19-15) lost to second ranked Soles (21-12) 80-76. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Lance Goulbourne (203-89, college: Vanderbilt) who led the winners and scored 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Branden Dawson accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds for Aaguacateros in the defeat. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Soles. They used an opportunity after Capitanes lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Aaguacateros lost their third game in a row. They keep the third place with 15 games lost. Soles will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aaguacateros will play again at home against the league's second-placed Soles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Puebla was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Abejas (17-20) played at the court of 7th ranked Angeles (12-23). Abejas defeated Angeles 79-63 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Gary Ricks who scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Bryan Davis who recorded 15 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Abejas. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Laguneros. Newly promoted Angeles keep the seventh position with 23 games lost. Abejas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Angeles will play again against Abejas (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 39 Santos won against Correcaminos on the opponent's court 106-98. Laguneros managed to outperform Huracanes in a home game 91-77.



Correcaminos - Santos 98-106

There was a minor upset in Ciudad Victoria where 4th placed Correcaminos (16-20) were defeated by sixth ranked Santos (12-25) 106-98 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was American forward Lyonell Gaines (198-93, college: Morehead St., agency: Best of You Sports) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. James Alvarez chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Gaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American Theron Laudermill (202-89, college: CS San Bernar.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and international guard Jose-David Estrada (194-94, agency: Pro Sports) added 22 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Santos maintains sixth place with 12-25 record. Loser Correcaminos dropped to the fifth position with 20 games lost. Santos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Correcaminos will play again against Santos (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather predictable result in Torreon where fifth ranked Laguneros (17-20) defeated 7th ranked Huracanes (6-31) 91-77 on Monday. Laguneros made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Huracanes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Jamaican-American guard Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) chipped in 12 points and 9 assists. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-94, college: Towson) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Five Laguneros and four Huracanes players scored in double figures. Laguneros moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Abejas. Huracanes lost their seventh game in a row. Huracanes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the seventh position with 31 games lost. Laguneros will again meet at home Huracanes (#7) in the next round.
