Capitanes - Abejas 92-65

Capitanes cruised past Abejas for the second straight win. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Abejas' 30 and made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Abejas 42-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. Capitanes players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Abejas' players. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91) notched 20 points and 4 steals to lead the effort and Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Gary Ricks (185-91, college: Drake) did not help to save the game for Abejas. His fellow American import guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: Cal.Baptist) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Soles defeated Aaguacateros to even the series at 1-1. Soles made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game, while Aaguacateros only scored four points from the stripe. Fuerza Regia's coach Francisco Olmos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) replied with 9 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized American swingman PJ Reyes (196-88, college: Charleston) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Laguneros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Mineros bounced back from the opening loss and defeated Lenadores. Mineros outrebounded Lenadores 47-31 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international power forward Fernando Benitez (204-89) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Mineros players scored in double figures. American-Lebanese power forward Jarrid Famous (209-88, college: S.Florida) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
