Abejas - Capitanes 73-90

Capitanes stormed past Abejas for the third straight win in the series. Capitanes outrebounded Abejas 40-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Abejas' players. It was a quality performance for Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) accounted for 14 points and 4 assists for the winning side. American guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: Cal.Baptist) came up with 16 points and American-Panamanian point guard Trevor Gaskins (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Pro Sports) added 16 points respectively for Abejas in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Fuerza Regia upset Laguneros to step closer to the semifinal stage. Fuerza Regia shot 61.1 percent from the field. It was a good game for American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) who led his team to a victory with 25 points. Swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Jamaican-American guard Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) answered with 23 points and 5 assists and American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Laguneros. Four Fuerza Regia and five Laguneros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
