We bring you last week's top performances from Mexicans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Alexander Perez Kaufmann
Alexander Perez Kaufmann
#1. This week's number one is an international point guard Alexander Perez Kaufmann (191-93, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Turkey). He was the major contributor in Banvit's surprising victory against the third-ranked Tofas (13-6) 90-89 in the Turkish BSL in Saturday night's game. Perez Kaufmann scored 20 points and added 7 passes in 35 minutes on the court. Banvit Basketbol Kulubu (7-11) is placed 11th in the BSL. It's Perez Kaufmann's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 12.8ppg, 2.4rpg, 5.3apg, 2FGP: 56.6%(64-113), 3FGP: 30.8% and FT: 81.1% in 18 games he played so far. Ex-Soles de Mexicali player is currently a member of the Mexican senior national team.

Gustavo Ayon
Gustavo Ayon
#2. Second place goes to an experienced international center Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: San Jose St., currently plays in Euroleague). Ayon contributed to an easy victory against the league leader Fenerbahce (21-4) 101-86 in the Euroleague last Thursday. He recorded 7 points and added 4 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Real Madrid (20-6) is placed second in the Euroleague. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Ayon is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Real Madrid's roster. This season Ayon averages: 8.3ppg, 6.0rpg, 3.4apg, 2FGP: 69.6%(80-115) and FT: 55.0%. He is in the roster of the Mexican senior national team.

Francisco Cruz
Francisco Cruz
#3. The Mexican player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming, currently plays in Spain). Cruz could not help Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (7-15) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Baloncesto Fuenlabrada was edged 89-88 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#9) Andorra. Cruz was the second best scorer with 19 points in 31 minutes. It was Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Cruz has relatively solid stats: 14.1ppg, 1.7rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 51.8%, 3FGP: 45.1%(46-102) and FT: 76.9% in 22 games. Ex-Fuerza Guinda Nogales player is also a member of the Mexican senior national team.

Paul Stoll
Paul Stoll
#4. Point guard Paul Stoll (180-85, currently plays in Israel) was not able to help Maccabi Ashdod (17-6) in their last game on Monday. Despite his good performance the league leader Maccabi Ashdod was defeated 99-84 in Beer Sheva by the lower-ranked Beer Sheva (#5). Stoll recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and making 10 passes. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Stoll has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.1ppg, 3.4rpg, 6.9apg and 3.3spg. Stoll is a naturalized American. He is also Mexican national team player. Stoll used to play for Algodoneros de La Comarca - Torreon in Mexican league.

Bryan Urrutia
Bryan Urrutia
#5. Former University international point guard Bryan Urrutia (185-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the Md-E Shore (5-11) in their game against the South Carolina State University (8-8) in the NCAA. Despite his very good performance on Tuesday night Urrutia scored 14 points, had 6 boards, passed 5 assists and added 4 steals. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Urrutia's overall stats this season are: 7.9ppg, 3.7rpg, 5.4apg and 1.7spg. He used to play for the Mexican university national team two years ago.

Rene Melendez
Rene Melendez
#6. Guard Rene Melendez (193-96, currently plays in NAIA) couldn't help the Mayville State University in their game against the Morningside College (20-3) in the NSAA. Melendez cannot count it as his best performance. He recorded only 2 points in 3 minutes on the court. It was his first game for Mayville State University this season. his team was crushed 90-55 in Sioux City by the Morningside College. Melendez is a former U16 international player as he played for the Mexican team six years ago.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Mexican passport:

#1. Experienced Jake Rios (188-G-86, college: Georgia Coll., currently plays in Australia) led Forestville Eagles to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Woodville Warriors (0-2) crushing them 123-98 in the Australian State League (second division) last Friday. He scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 26 minutes. Forestville Eagles (2-0) are placed second in Premier League. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Rios has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.5apg in two games he played so far. Rios is a naturalized American.
