LNBP Round 2 of Regular Season- September 23, 2019
There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LNBP. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Laguneros - Fuerza Regia 69-71 A very close game took place in Torreon between Fuerza Regia and Laguneros. Fuerza Regia (2-0) got a very close victory on the road over Laguneros (0-2). Fuerza Regia managed to escape with a 2-point win 71-69 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Fuerza Regia made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Laguneros turnovers. Strangely Laguneros outrebounded Fuerza Regia 46-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Jerime Anderson (187-89, college: UCLA, agency: Best of You Sports) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Jonathan Leon responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Martin Coy scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Laguneros' coach Andres Contreras tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Soles shot 60.9 percent from the field. Soles outrebounded Angeles 42-24 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Angeles were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward John Flowers (200-89, college: WVU, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The other American import power forward David Laury (206-90, college: Iona) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five Soles players scored in double figures. Soles' coach Ivan Deniz felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Puerto Rican forward Jeffrey Burgos (198-94, college: Seton Hill) produced 24 points and 6 rebounds and forward Jose Vega (193-93) added 10 points respectively for the hosts. American-Puerto Rican forward Derek Reese (201-93, college: Tennessee) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Panteras players scored in double figures. Panteras' coach Manuel Cintron used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Visitors were edged by Mineros 98-97. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American center Greg Smith (208-91, college: Fresno St., agency: Wasserman) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Puerto Rican forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: SHSU) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Host Astros were defeated by Michoacan in a tough game at home 83-90. Michoacan made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Astros were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St., agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Huracanes (1-1) to Dorados (1-1) 85-82 in the game for the second place. Dorados made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Dominican point guard Juan Miguel Suero (198-93) notched 18 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Rayes Gallegos (188-90, college: Nebraska) supported him with 23 points. Dorados' coach Gustavo Pacheco allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) by American guard Kyle Lamonte (191-84, college: William Carey) did not help to save the game for Huracanes. His fellow American import power forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-88, college: Stillman) added 21 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. The best player for the winners was American guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) who scored 29 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The other American import center Maurice Sutton (211-89, college: Villanova) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. International forward Irwin Avalos (201-91, college: DBU) produced 18 points and Puerto Rican forward Luis Hernandez (206-88) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Libertadores players scored in double figures.
