LNBP Round 19 of Regular Season- November 8, 2019
The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Aaguacateros - Astros 110-83 No shocking result in a game when second ranked Aaguacateros (13-6) crushed 5th ranked Astros (9-10) in Michoacan 110-83 on Thursday. Aaguacateros shot 67.2 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Astros' players. It was a very good performance for American swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 7 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). International center Edgar Garibay (211-90, college: LBSU, agency: Best of You Sports) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. American-Puerto Rican Devon Collier (203-91, college: Oregon St.) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 12 points in the effort for Astros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aaguacateros maintains second place with 13-6 record having just two points less than leader Dorados. Astros lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Aaguacateros will face again Astros (#6) in the next round. Abejas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for American-Puerto Rican swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) who helped to win the game recording 30 points. American guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Abejas' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Dominican-Puerto Rican swingman Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) answered with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Dominican forward Justin Satchell (203, college: St.Leo) added 19 points in the effort for Libertadores. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Abejas. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Libertadores keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Abejas will face again Libertadores (#8) in Queretaro in the next round. Third ranked Capitanes (12-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Santos (7-11). Capitanes managed to secure a 8-point victory 93-85. Capitanes players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (175-86, college: WKU, agency: Pro Sports) fired 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Panamanian guard Daniel Giron (193-89) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American point guard Raymond Cintron-Cortes (183-90, college: MTSU) produced 20 points and the other American import forward Kyle Spain (196-87, college: San Diego St., agency: Interperformances) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Santos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Capitanes maintains third place with 12-4 record having 3 victories less than leader Dorados. Santos lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Capitanes will have a break next round. Santos will play again at home against Capitanes (#3) and hope to win that game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Angeles (1-18) in Mexicali 113-76. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Angeles' players. It was a quality performance for international guard Luke Martinez (193-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 6 assists. American-Argentinian center Daniel Amigo (208-95, college: Denver) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Soles' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Puerto Rican Jeff Burgos came up with 26 points and 5 rebounds and Panamanian swingman Alejandro Grant (199-93) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Angeles in the defeat. Five Soles and four Angeles players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Soles. They maintain first place with 15-4 record. Angeles lost their twelfth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 18 games lost. Soles will again meet at home Angeles (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Angeles will have a break next round. Fifth ranked Panteras (10-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Correcaminos (5-17). Panteras managed to secure a 6-point victory 103-97 on Thursday. Panteras made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for American center Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 9 rebounds. Puerto Rican guard Christian Pizarro (180-95, college: Miami Dade CC) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Five Panteras players scored in double figures. Panteras' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Kennedy Jones (188-89, college: Arlington Baptist) answered with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Senegalese center Mamadou Ndiaye (229-93, college: UC Irvine) added 27 points and 14 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) in the effort for Correcaminos. Panteras moved-up to fourth place. Loser Correcaminos keep the seventh position with 17 games lost. Panteras will have a break next round. Correcaminos will play again at home against Panteras (#4) and hope to win that game. Second ranked Dorados had an easy win 97-78. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Huracanes. Dorados forced 19 Huracanes turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a great evening for American center Jarred Shaw (208-90, college: Utah St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Dominican point guard Juan-Miguel Suero (198-93) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. Dorados' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Ole Miss) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Kyle Lamonte (191-84, college: William Carey) scored 17 points and 8 assists. Five Dorados and four Huracanes players scored in double figures. Dorados have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Huracanes at the other side keep the fourth place with six games lost. Dorados will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Huracanes will play again against the league's leader Dorados (#1) and hope to get back on the winning track. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mineros. They outrebounded Mineros 38-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Decensae Wite contributed with 9 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: UNC) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) added 17 points in the effort for Mineros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lenadores maintains fifth place with 9-9 record. Mineros at the other side dropped to the second position with five games lost. They share it with Fuerza Regia. They were replaced at the leadership position by Dorados. Mineros will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Lenadores will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Mineros at home.
