LNBP Round 22 of Regular Season- November 16, 2019
The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Soles - Huracanes 111-74 An interesting game for Soles (18-4) which hosted in Mexicali 4th ranked Huracanes (13-9). First ranked Soles had an easy win 111-74. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Huracanes' 38. Soles forced 19 Huracanes turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Huracanes' players. American forward Chris Reyes (201-94, college: Pepperdine) fired 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. International guard Luke Martinez (193-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Kyle Lamonte (191-84, college: William Carey) added 16 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for lost side. Soles have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-4 record. Huracanes at the other side keep the fourth place with nine games lost. Soles' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Aaguacateros in Michoacan and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aaguacateros dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Angeles' 48 and made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Aaguacateros looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for American guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St., agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The other American import swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Five Aaguacateros players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican Jeff Burgos replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American forward William Green (201-91, college: Stetson) added 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Angeles. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aaguacateros moved-up to second place. Angeles lost fifteenth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 21 games lost. Aaguacateros will face league's leader Soles in Mexicali in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Angeles will play on the road against Capitanes (#3) in Mexico and hope to win that game. Visiting Capitanes were defeated by Astros in 91-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Capitanes. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Puerto Rican swingman Angel-Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) notched 21 points to lead the effort and international center Jose-Israel Gutierrez (206-93) supported him with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Even 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American-Puerto Rican forward Emmanuel Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) did not help to save the game for Capitanes. The former international point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (175-86, college: WKU, agency: Pro Sports) added 13 points and 6 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach tested ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Astros maintains sixth position with 11-11 record. Loser Capitanes dropped to the third place with five games lost. Astros will meet higher ranked Abejas (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Capitanes will play against Angeles and hope to secure a win. Fifth ranked Lenadores (11-10) played at the court of 8th ranked Laguneros (1-21). Lenadores managed to secure a 5-point victory 83-78 on Thursday. Lenadores made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds. Cuban forward Darol Hernandez (206-89) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Lenadores players scored in double figures. Lenadores' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Trent Steen (203, college: UAPB, agency: One Motive Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import forward John Taylor (185-89, college: Fresno Pacific, agency: Promotex) added 20 points in the effort for Laguneros. Lenadores maintains fifth position with 11-10 record. Laguneros lost sixteenth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 21 games lost. Lenadores will face Plateados (#6) in the next round. Laguneros will play against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Mineros smashed 7th ranked Correcaminos at home 100-76. Mineros made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Correcaminos' players. American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: UNC) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Jordan Williams (198-92, college: N.Texas) chipped in 21 points during the contest. Mineros' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Senegalese center Mamadou Ndiaye (229-93, college: UC Irvine) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American guard Daniel Soto (196-91, college: Hope International) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Fuerza Regia. Correcaminos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 20 games lost. Correcaminos will play next round against Laguneros trying to get back on the winning streak. Mineros will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Libertadores at Queretaro. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. They outrebounded Fuerza Regia 39-25 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Plateados looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Fuerza Regia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican point guard Filiberto Rivera (189-82, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Jamaican-American power forward Adrian Uter (201-84, college: Hofstra, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Nigerian-American power forward OD Anosike (203-91, college: Siena) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican Javier Mojica (190-84, college: CCSU, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Fuerza Regia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Plateados maintains sixth position with 7-13 record. Fuerza Regia at the other side still keeps top place with six games lost. They share the position with Mineros. They were replaced at the leadership position by Mineros. Fuerza Regia will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Plateados will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Lenadores on the road. Quite impressive performance for American guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) contributed with 30 points for the winners. American center BJ West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) replied with 12 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian forward Jean-Emmanuel Pierre-Charles (203-93, college: Ottawa) added 6 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Santos. Santos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Abejas maintains fifth position with 11-8 record. Santos lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 14 games lost. Abejas will face Astros (#6) in the next round. Santos will play against Panteras in Aguascalientes and hope to win that game.
