LNBP Round 34: Astros beat Plateados by two after a very close game

The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 34 in the LNBP took place in Fresnillo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Plateados (15-19) to fifth ranked Astros (18-14) 78-76 in the game for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Plateados. Astros made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Puerto Rican Devon Collier (203-91, college: Oregon St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Puerto Rican swingman Angel-Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Astros' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Puerto Rican forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: SHSU) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds for Plateados. Newly promoted Astros maintains fifth position with 18-14 record. Plateados at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the sixth place with 19 games lost. Astros are looking forward to face Angeles (#9) in Puebla in the next round. Plateados will play on the road against the league's second-placed Dorados in Chihuahua and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
An interesting game for Panteras (20-11) which hosted in Aguascalientes one of their biggest challengers Aaguacateros (19-13). Third ranked Panteras managed to get a 5-point victory 84-79. American-Dominican forward Jose Rodriguez (201-92, college: Texas Southern) scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Benjamin Puckett chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) responded with 21 points (made all of his seven free throws). Panteras maintains third position with 20-11 record having six points less than leader Mineros. Aaguacateros at the other side keep the fourth place with 13 games lost. Panteras will play against league's second-placed Capitanes in Mexico in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aaguacateros will play at home against Libertadores and hope to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Mineros (26-9) which hosted in Zacatecas 4th ranked Huracanes (18-16). First ranked Mineros managed to get a 4-point victory 83-79. Stephen Soriano notched 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort. Mineros' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by Germain Jordan did not help to save the game for Huracanes. Mineros maintains first position with 26-9 record. Loser Huracanes keep the fourth place with 16 games lost. Mineros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Huracanes will play against Laguneros (#8) and hope to secure a win.
LNBP top team - Soles (25-7) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Libertadores (11-21) in Queretaro 107-79. Will Daniels fired 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Soles' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Soles have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 25-7 record. Libertadores lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 21 games lost. Soles will have a break next round. Libertadores will play on the road against Aaguacateros (#4) in Michoacan and hope to win that game.
The game in Torreon supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Dorados (23-9) played at the court of 8th ranked Laguneros (1-32). Dorados did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 97-77 on Sunday. It was a very good performance for Matthew Bryan-Amaning who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dorados have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Dorados maintains second position with 23-9 record having just two points less than leader Mineros. Laguneros lost twenty seventh consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 32 games lost. Dorados will face Plateados (#6) in Fresnillo in the next round. Laguneros will play on the road against Huracanes in Tampico and hope to win that game.

Other games in round 34 were not that significant. Abejas were beaten by Capitanes on the road 100-90. Lenadores lost to Fuerza Regia on its own court 81-89. Huracanes managed to outperform Lenadores in Tampico 104-93. Lenadores managed to beat Huracanes at home 105-96.
The most impressive performance of 34th round was 21 points and 10 rebounds by Decensae Wite of Lenadores.



Capitanes - Abejas 100-90

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Capitanes (21-8) beat 6th ranked Abejas (14-14) in Mexico 100-90 on Monday. Capitanes shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 65.0 percentage. It was a very good performance for American forward Joel James (208-94, college: UNC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican forward Emmanuel Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) contributed with 12 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Jordan Washington (203-93, college: Iona, agency: Interperformances) replied with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) added 32 points and 6 assists in the effort for Abejas. Capitanes maintains second position with 21-8 record having seven points less than leader Mineros. Abejas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 14 games lost. Capitanes will face Panteras (#3) in Aguascalientes in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Abejas will play at home against Lenadores and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Lenadores (17-16) lost to third ranked Fuerza Regia (23-10) in Durango 81-89 on Sunday. Fuerza Regia made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for Nigerian-American power forward OD Anosike (203-91, college: Siena) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) replied with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Lenadores. Lenadores' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fuerza Regia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 23-10 record having just one point less than leader Mineros. Lenadores lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 16 games lost. Quite impressive performance for Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists.
