LNBP Round 6: Soles lose to Aaguacateros in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Michoacan. First ranked host Aaguacateros (5-1) defeated 3rd ranked Soles (3-3) 87-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Soles. Aaguacateros made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Soles helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Rodney Green (183-88, college: La Salle) scored 20 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Jerome Meyinsse (208-88, college: Virginia) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Aaguacateros' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Argentinian center Roberto Acuna (208-90) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Aaguacateros maintains first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Lenadores and Mineros. Soles at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Panteras. Aaguacateros is looking forward to face Abejas (#6) in Guanajuato in the next round where they are favorite. Soles will play at home against the league's second-placed Astros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Argentinian point guard Juan Brussino (185-91) notched 21 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and Rigoberto Mendoza supported him with 20 points and 5 assists. Even 26 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) by Puerto Rican Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: SHSU) did not help to save the game for Plateros. Dorados moved-up to second place, which they share with Astros. Plateros at the other side keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Libertadores. Dorados will play against Correcaminos (#5) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round. Plateros will play at home against Fuerza Regia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Queretaro. 4th ranked host Libertadores (2-4) were smashed by second ranked Astros (4-2) 115-96. The best player for the winners was Isaac Sosa-Carrion who scored 25 points. Astros' coach Sergio Valdeolmillos used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Jordan Adams who recorded 25 points. Astros have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-2 record behind leader Lenadores, which they share with Dorados. Libertadores lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Plateros. Astros will meet Soles (#4) in the next round. Libertadores will play against Panteras in Aguascalientes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
LNBP top team - Lenadores (5-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Fuerza Regia (0-4) in Durango 104-91. It was a good game for Antonio Pena who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Lenadores maintains first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Aaguacateros and Mineros. Fuerza Regia at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Lenadores' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Mineros in Zacatecas and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fuerza Regia will play on the road against Plateros in Fresnillo and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Correcaminos will play on the road against Dorados (#3) in Chihuahua and look forward to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 6 Panteras won against Abejas on the opponent's court 87-83.



Correcaminos - Mineros 84-89

Bottom-ranked Correcaminos (0-4) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to second ranked Mineros (5-1) 89-84 on Wednesday evening. Mineros made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. American center Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 20 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Mike Bruesewitz (201-90, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Dawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Mineros players scored in double figures. Mineros' coach Allans Colon allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Dominican forward Juan Guerrero (205-93) with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and American guard Jeff Early (190-88, college: SIU) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Mineros have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Aaguacateros and Lenadores. Loser Correcaminos still closes the standings with four games lost. Mineros will face league's leader Lenadores in Durango in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Abejas - Panteras 83-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Abejas' (1-5) home loss to fifth ranked Panteras (3-3) 83-87 on Wednesday. Panteras made 25-of-27 free shots (92.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Abejas turnovers. Strangely Abejas outrebounded Panteras 45-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. Abejas were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Point guard Josh Rodriguez (198-92, college: PLNU) scored 27 points and 7 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Will Artino (211-92, college: Creighton) chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Leron Black (201-96, college: Illinois) with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and JR Holder (198-94, college: Jacksonville) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Panteras moved-up to third place, which they share with Soles. Loser Abejas keep the sixth position with five games lost. Panteras will face Libertadores (#5) in Queretaro in the next round. Abejas will play on the road against the league's leader Aaguacateros in Michoacan and hope to win that game.

Lenadores shot the lights out from three nailing 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for American-Dominican Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Gabriel Giron (192-88) contributed with 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Ole Miss) replied with 17 points and 6 assists and Nigerian-American power forward OD Anosike (203-91, college: Siena) added 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Fuerza Regia. Four Lenadores and five Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Lenadores maintains first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Aaguacateros and Mineros. Fuerza Regia at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost.
