Toros - Indios 109-114 We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Nuevo Laredo where 4th placed Toros (7-5) were defeated by fifth ranked Ciudad (2-10) 114-109. They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Ciudad outrebounded Toros 45-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Ciudad players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. American forward Gabe McCray (201-94, college: SC State) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and forward Juan Esteva Hernandez (198-83) accounted for 21 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized Argentinian point guard Cristian Cortez (185-90) came up with 27 points and 9 assists and American Leroy Davis (198-81, college: Georgia St.) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Toros in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Ciudad maintains fifth place with 2-10 record. Toros at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. First ranked Dorados faced second-ranked Centauros. Host Dorados (11-1) defeated guests from Chihuahua (8-4) 110-97. Dorados dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Centauros' 46. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Centauros' players. Centauros were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized American Durrell Summers (196-89, college: Michigan St.) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Dawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Cezar Vasquez answered with 28 points and the former international Gabriel Giron (192-88) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Centauros. Five Dorados and four Centauros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dorados maintains first place with 11-1 record. Centauros at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Soles made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Soles outrebounded NCG Potros 50-34 including 35 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard Gary Ricks (185-91, college: Drake) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and the former international Fabian Jaimes (198-92) accounted for 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Tristan Spurlock (203-91, college: UCF) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) added 32 points and 6 rebounds respectively for NCG Potros in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Soles have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 7-5 record having four points less than leader Dorados, which they share with Toros. NCG Potros lost sixth consecutive game. Centauros forced 21 Ciudad turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 32 personal fouls committed by Ciudad helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Soles (7-5) to fourth ranked Toros (7-5) 92-90 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Soles. Toros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Raul Olalde (196-96) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. International center Alejandro Reyna (206-97, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Toros' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Four Toros and five Soles players scored in double figures. Toros moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Soles. This time they crushed 6th ranked NCG Potros (1-11) 113-90. They outrebounded NCG Potros 59-39 including a 50-32 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dorados looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by NCG Potros' players. Naturalized American Durrell Summers (196-89, college: Michigan St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and naturalized American Gerardo Chavez (208-96, college: Jarvis Christian) chipped in 14 points and 18 rebounds. American point guard Cairo Brown (190-93, college: Benedict) responded with 25 points and 5 assists and the other American import guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Five Dorados and four NCG Potros players scored in double figures. Dorados maintains first place with 11-1 record. NCG Potros lost sixth consecutive game.
